A(H1N1) Influenza Vaccination Notice

Vaccinations for people between the ages of 19 (born after April 1, 1991) and 65 will begin on January 16.

※ Due to a limited supply of vaccines, some hospitals may not be able to begin vaccinations as scheduled below. Please inquire about availability.

※ This schedule is subject to change. For the latest information, please visit the Shiga Prefectural Government's website.

※ Vaccination is still possible after the closing of a particular vaccination window.

※ Please talk with your doctor regarding priority and "underlying condition" designations.

※ The vaccine is only minimally effective on children under the age of one. Their caregivers will be vaccinated.


Vaccinations are given by appointment.

※The number of injections for children of junior and senior high school age (13 – 18) has changed from two (2) to one (1).

※ Ask at your local city or town hall for information about subsidized vaccinations.

Please take the following precautions to prevent the spread of A(H1N1) influenza.

The vaccine is effective in preventing the onset of serious illness, but it does not completely prevent infection. Please continue to wash your hands, gargle, and practice good coughing etiquette.

  1. Wash your hands and gargle. Hand washing is particularly effective.
  2. Wear a mask if you have a fever, cough, or are sneezing.
  3. Eat healthy foods and get plenty of sleep and rest.
