An Energy Conservation Request from Shiga Prefecture (Home Edition)

The Kansai Electric Power Company is forecasting electricity shortages this winter if it is unable to resume operations at nuclear power plants that have been taken offline for inspections.
Amidst these circumstances, Shiga Prefecture would like to ask for your continued support in conserving electricity at home and at work during the following times.

*Excluding December 29, December 30, January 3, and January 4

*Particularly during peak electric demand hours (18:00–21:00)

Your cooperation, to the extent that it does not adversely affect the health of you or your family, is appreciated.
Sample Conservation Methods:
- Use electric heating devices as sparingly as possible
*Example devices: electric rugs and electric heaters
- Set your heating unit to 20°C or below
- Turn off unnecessary lighting
- Use electrically-demanding appliances as sparingly as possible, or, try to avoid using them during peak consumption hours (18:00–21:00)
*Example devices: rice cookers, electric water heaters, microwaves, hair dryers, drying machines, vacuums, and irons
- Make trips out of the house to reduce home energy consumption
- Reduce the frequency and length of time you open your refrigerator door
- Enable the power saving mode on your television or computer (if applicable)
